Christmas Season, Area Appreciations, and Odds & Ends

So, I knew that it had been awhile since I posted a blog entry, but didn’t know it was longer than three months! Crap, where did the time go?? Proud to say I have gotten over my “writers block,” and now understand that writing is not just my passion, but my career. So, let the career resume!

Cast of "Dickens' Christmas Carol" at Silver Dollar City!!

What better topic to get started with, than Branson? My favorite, especially this time of year. Silver Dollar City is always a “must see” in our family, as is the practice of many locals and tourists alike. And why wouldn’t it be? HotelsCombined.com named Silver Dollar City as the number one Holiday Light and Tree show in the nation! Good Morning America listed SDC as one of the top five holiday events in the country. Four million lights, a five-story Christmas Tree, and two live plays are just a few of the awesome sights waiting for you. A live nativity play, as well as “Dickens’ Christmas Carol” are playing throughout the day. Hot Chocolate, Hot Cider and Caramel apples are a few season’s treat available for purchase. Don’t forget about the train ride and the parade! With about three weeks of available days left this season, you had better hurry over to their webpage! Plan your family outing today!

Many, if not all all, of the shows have at least one half of the show dedicated to Christmas. A select few might feature Christmas throughout the entire show, but I am not sure.  Why not find out for yourself? Many shows have made it easy for locals to do just that, with area appreciations throughout select dates of this year. Take in your favorite show and see how much of the Christmas spirit you can catch! The area appreciation prices are the theatre’s gift to you!

Starlite Theatre-A Christmas Snow      $8             the rest of the year

Presley’s Theatre- Presley 8pm Show    FREE      Through December 10th     Taney and Stone Counties Only!

1 Hits of the 60′s                                                $5          All year long                             pay stub or driver’s license.

Rankin Brothers- Gilley Theatre              $10+ tax  All year long                          Stone and Taney Residents . Must show a Valid Driver’s License

All Shows-Clay Cooper Theatre                $10             Year Round                           Stone, Taney County; Driver’s License Required

I have tried to keep up with all the theatre switching that is/will be going on. Six has moved to Gilley’s, JEERK has left. The Hughes Brothers will be starting a new show next season, “it.” I find it brilliant that, according to rumors I have heard, this show will “compliment” the brothers’ original show. “It” will give all Hughes Brothers’ fans a chance to take in a second show, predicted to have some of the same cast members.  Just a note, the Hughes Brothers have won best Christmas show this season. Add them to your show schedule this season, if you haven’t already done so.

Rankin Brothers have also relocated to Gilley’s. Don’t worry though, Mickey will still be doing some shows I believe.

Marty Haggard won’t be returning to Clay Cooper’s Theatre next year, as he will be traveling.

The 3 Redneck Tenors will not be at the Mansion Theatre after this season’s last show, set for December 10th. Instead, their new home for 2012 will be at the Americana Theatre. They have signed a multi-year agreement with Haygood Entertainment. Speaking of the Haygoods, have you tuned in to their TV Show? Adventures of the Haygoods is on RFD-TV throughout each week. Incidentally, the new home of this incredibly talented family is now at the RFD-TV Theatre.

Sawyer Brown is scheduled to be at the Oak Ridge Boys Theatre next April. Tickets are on sale now! What are you waiting for? “Step that Step” right on over to the phone and order your tickets, before there’s “Trouble on the Line.”

So, not bad for my first blog in ages, right? Keep an eye for more blogs, in a shorter period of time than my last entry. I want to wish everyone a Very Merry, Christ-filled Christmas!!!
